Anatomy for Bodyworkers Anatomy is not a scientific theory, it doesn’t change from year to year and its position as the fundamental on which modern medicine has been built doesn’t change. It is, simply, the study of the way we are made. Human anatomy is a must for bodyworkers, knowing the function of each body system is essential in deciding the type of massage that will be most beneficial. Understanding the various body systems helps when it comes to understanding client's pathologies, and can make your massage more specific and effective.

Anatomy Trains
Revealed: Dissecting the Myofascial Meridians
This DVD set uses video and photography to capture a firsthand voyage of discovery of the body's myofascial meridians, exploring and explaining new dissections of both traditional preserved and "fresh tissue" cadavers. It tracks and explains all the holistic fascial meridians in the Anatomy Trains map. Using real-time classroom video and photos, this 3-DVD set presents a unique 21st century view of fascial anatomy in manual and movement therapy unexplored from the first dissections in the Renaissance until now. Thomas Myers, author of Anatomy Trains, takes you on this journey with the help of master prosector Todd Garcia in his Laboratories of Anatomical Enlightenment. Together, they reveal a new understanding of clinically relevant myofascial links to your eye and hand. |

|
Anatomy Trains: Fascial Tensegrity &
Myofascial Meridians The first DVD Fascial Tensegrity introduces the Anatomy Trains concept by taking a tour of the origins and disposition of the fascinating fascial net. We look at its components, its embryology, and its properties in human functioning. By viewing the fascial net as a whole, we see how the body can be seen as a variety of 'tensegrity' structure, where the dynamic interaction among bones, muscles, and the connective tissues produces our stance, movement, and 'attitude'. The second DVD Myofascial Meridians summarizes the whole Anatomy Trains Myofascial Meridians system. The 'rules of the game' are laid out, as well as each of the 12 myofascial linkages, their components, and relationships in specific detail in a way no ordinary muscle-by-muscle and bone-by-bone anatomy course has ever done.

The Skin
Excursion. The Passage of the Epidermis
This 28 minutes film is the sequel to "Strolling under the skin" exploration of living fascia to the skin and the layers immediately underneath. This film highlight the skin through endoscopic observation, made on the living body, during surgery, to highlight the existence of a mechanism of mobility, architectural organization in the epidermis, dermis and hypodermis. A vision of the organization of the body in total continuity throughout the interior design will then open our eye. With similar striking and unique filming of the living fascia in action, this new film builds on his previous accomplishments to explain the unique structural aspects of our skin and superficial fascia. Muscle
attitudes
This 22 minutes film continues to explore the human body extending from "Strolling under the skin" and "The Skin Excursion. In this film, the author, a surgeon and a scientist Dr. JC Guimberteau shows that the muscle is a contractile structure fully inserted into the network multi-fibrillaire already described under the skin and in skin and not apart. Anatomically feasible, they think that there is no break in continuity and that all tissue sheaths around or in the muscle, epimysium, perimysium or endomysium are actually one and the same tissue in continuity with other slip systems of organs. Interior Architectures A new film by J.C. Guimberteau (2012), Filmed in High Definition, this new sequences was filmed during surgical procedures using endoscopy. The movie sets out to show the fascial web that forms a continuity tissue and internal architecture of the bodyappears to be an ideal network made up of fibres, fibrils and microfibrils, and microvacuolar spaces. This can be demonstrated at all degrees of magnification, from the mesosphere to the microsphere. Therefore, this network can be described and interpreted as a global system...

Skin, Scars and Stiffness Shown for the first time in the 2012 Fascia Congress in Vancouver... Thanks to the peroperative endoscopy, the knowledge concerning living human matter is now largely improved. This DVD presents a new concept on the living body based on the fascia as a multifibrillar interior architecture that is able to respond to mechanical constraints. This multifibrillar network shows a chaotic and dispersed pattern, but is responsible of the best mechanical efficiency in our body ...

THE INTEGRAL ANATOMY SERIES See what you touch. Rare visions of the human form explored through dissection. Vol. 1: Skin and Superficial Fascia Each volume of this series presents the anatomy of human form, layer by layer, from an integral, whole body perspective. The DVDs in this series systematically document tissues and dissection perspectives missing from the established anatomical texts and videos. Skin, superficial fascia, deep fascia, muscle, visceral wrappings and viscera are dissected and demonstrated on camera as whole body layers in a series of truly unique and revealing sequences available nowhere else. In these DVDs, the viewer is brought directly into the laboratory as a first-hand eye-witness to the dissection and discovery process. In what may be the most visually surprising and important sequences in the series, skin and superficial fascia are demonstrated as whole body layers in their superficial and deep projections. The layers are dissected on camera and presented in detail in their variations and in their implications for overall health. The visuals include a stunning off-body example from the male, and the entire superficial fascia of the female form is demonstrated off body as a singular layer and discussed in its wide ranging importance. |
![]() |
Vol. 2: Deep Fascia and Muscle In this volume the whole body continuities of deep fascia and muscle are demonstrated in detail and dissected on camera to demonstrate their relationships to underlying and overlying structures. Following through with themes initiated in the first volume, visual presentations and discussions of the practical implications for professional practice of the layer by layer demonstration of human form are carried deeper into the body. The first volume creates the material and visual context for understanding the layers explored in this volume. |
![]() |
Vol. 3: Cranial and Visceral Fasciae This volume covers the fascial and membranous layers which surround the cranial and visceral spaces. You've heard of the dura, arachnoid, pia, endothoracic fascia, pleura, transversalis fascia, peritoneum, and pericardium. These layers are literally impossible to understand by looking at books or by hearing about them in classes, and are rarely demonstrated clearly even in the laboratory. Sequenced with the first two volumes, this stunning presentation plainly demonstrates these bag-like layers which define the spaces of our organs and central nervous tissues. The peritoneum is demonstrated in its entirety as perhaps never before in a spectacular on-camera dissection, the dura is revealed with its sinuses, healthy and pathological adhesions are explored and explained. Central to this presentation is the respiratory diaphragm, which cannot be understood apart from the serous membranes upon which it acts. Here it is demonstrated with absolute clarity in its continuity with the fascial and membranous layers of the viscera. |
![]() |
Vol. 4: Viscera and their Fasciae This volume covers the viscera of the abdominal, pelvic and thoracic spaces, and the fascia through which they relate. This volume also introduces into the mix of examples an un-embalmed female form. The story of the layers of the form is continued where Vol. 3 left off, once the layers of the new form have been reflected in turn. The various organs are carefully explored at a pace coherent with the viscera themselves. The examples of the embalmed male and female form, whose viscera present clearly, create an ideal contrast to the un-embalmed female form in which many adhesions are identified. The viewer is thus enabled to see both normal relationships and movements, as well as the sequelae to pathologies and surgeries. |

With health care costs soaring in the west, looking eastward to alternative medicine may provide the only answer. Over forty percent of Americans will try alternative medicine this year! Our story begins in India and the ancient vedic healing practice of Ayurveda – the science of life. Tibetan Medicine and Ayurveda share the same philosophy of the Five Elements – the building blocks of man and the cosmos. Traditional Chinese Medicine is rooted in the Dao – the Yin and Yang of opposite forces that keep our body and mind in balance. All share a common belief: That a life-force or energy exists called Chi (Prana), that is vital to sustain all life.

Anatomy and Asana: Preventing Yoga Injuries by Susi
Hately Aldous
Anatomy and Asana offers an easy and successful method to learn anatomy and its relationship to yoga in a way that helps prevent injuries. It is written by a certified yoga teacher with a diverse background in kinesiology, ergonomics, and physical rehabilitation. Anatomy and Asana answers many practical questions that are often asked by yoga students – about back pain, knee pain, and shoulder pain; about clenching the butt in back bends, and how to release the hamstrings or prevent hamstring tearing in forward bends. The book combines hands-on information with illuminating drawings, stories, and helpful tips to show you how to practice yoga with less pain. It informs without overwhelming the reader with too much information. Anatomy and Asana is divided into four parts: basics of anatomy; language of anatomy and movement; the eight essential principles of movement as they relate to yoga; and application of these principles to specific groups of yoga asanas: standing poses, back bends, forward bends, twists, and inversions. For each group, the book shows where there is a tendency for injury and what you can do to instill space in your body and thereby prevent injury from occurring.

The Female Pelvis: Anatomy & Exercises
by Blandine Calais-Germain
The female pelvis and its contents are an underappreciated region of the anatomy. Important not only for sexuality, they are also central to the processes of childbirth and elimination. The Female Pelvis was written for women to use over the course of their lives, with a special emphasis on pregnancy, childbirth, and its aftermath. Its purpose is to help women become more familiar with the pelvis and its related structures, and how to keep them healthy and fit. The book begins with a description of the functional anatomy of the pelvis, and how it responds to pregnancy and childbirth. This is followed by a series of specific exercises, initially for self-discovery, and then to increase the flexibility, strength, and coordination of each of the pelvic functions. The book concludes with some guidelines which focus on the pelvis during different phases of a woman's life. |
