The Chinese characters for Tai Chi can be translated as the 'Supreme Ultimate'. The notion of 'supreme ultimate' is often associated with the Chinese concept of the original self and yin-yang, the notion that one can see a dynamic duality in all things.

Tai Chi is practiced to foster the circulation of this 'chi' (or Qi or Ki) within the body, the belief being that by doing so the health and vitality of the person are enhanced. Another aim is to foster a calm and tranquil mind, focused on the precise execution of these exercises. Learning Tai Chi can be a practical avenue for learning about balance, alignment, fine-scale motor control, rhythm of movement, the genesis of movement from the body's vital center. The benefits also can be correcting poor postural, alignment or movement patterns, research also shows that it can boost immune system.

Yang Style is the most commonly practiced style. Pacing is uniformly slow throughout the form, with no variation in speed during transitions. Continuity, without break or pause, is the key.

Master Chao Pang  has over 30 years experience in Tai Chi, martial arts & Qi Gong. His joyful and clear teaching style blends east and west in a compressive system that is easy to learn.

Master Chao Pang received his Bachelor’s Degree in Physics and his Master’s Degree in Instrumentation from UCSB. He is the winner of the 2000 World Martial Arts Championship in Phoenix, Arizona in Advanced Tai Chi and Internal Weapon http://www.beijingwushuteam.com/articles/az00.html

He has studied various forms of Martial Arts including Judo, Fencing, Korean Style Karate, Chinese Kung Fu, Yang Style Tai-Chi, Hsing-I/Tai-Chi, and Wudang Style Tai-Chi and Pushing hands. He was a manager and instructor at the Maple Tai-Chi School and was an Assistant Instructor at the University of New York at Queens. Chao Pang currently teaches Taoist Energetic Courses at Santa Barbara College of Oriental Medicine.
