In 1994, after 8 years in the military, US Marine Corps, I
opened a group of fitness centers and began personal training. As my career
grew I found myself incorporating more stretching and rehabilitative exercises
into my routines for clients. I then decided I needed more "hands on" so I got
my massage license.
2. What do you find most exciting about
bodywork therapy?
The immediate positive response to treatment.
3. What is your most favourite bodywork
book?
Orthopaedic Medicine by Monica Kesson and Elaine Atkins.
4. Which part of the body do you find the
most challenging to work on?
The shoulder group, SITS, if you can master this region you
will have clients forever ! People will always find ways to injured themselves.
5. What advise you can give to fresh
massage therapists who wish to make a career out of it?
Listen..listen..listen to the client. Don't do the same stale
routine for everyone. If they say they want an hour of back work ...do it. One
of the biggest complaints from clients that came to me from another therapist
was " they never listened to what I asked for ".
6. How do you see the future of massage
therapy?
Absolutely essential for treating injury. Must be part of the
whole treatment process.
